Descriptions of the inhabitants of Hellfire are mentioned in the Quran and , including that they will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection on their faces, blind, mute, and deaf. Their eyes will be downcast, humiliation will cover them, and they will be shackled with yokes. Chains will be dragged through their bodies, and they will have maces of iron. Fire will surround them from every direction, their food will be dari' (a thorny plant) and zaqqum (a tree with bitter fruit), and their drink will be hameem (scalding water) which will scald faces. Their skins will be replaced whenever they are cooked, so that they may taste the torment. They will neither die therein nor live. Their garments will be made of pitch, and fire will engulf their faces. Furthermore, the arrogant will be gathered like ants, covered in humiliation, and they will be given to drink from the fluid extracted from the inhabitants of Hellfire.
