Will the people of the Fire inherit the people of Paradise in the Fire, or will the people of Paradise inherit the people of the Fire in Paradise?

The Sunnah indicates that every person has a dwelling in Paradise and a dwelling in Hellfire. If a servant enters Hellfire, the people of Paradise inherit his dwelling in Paradise. This is what Allah's Almighty saying, "Those are the inheritors," refers to. The majority of scholars interpreted Allah's Almighty saying, "We made you inherit the earth," as referring to the land of Paradise that would have belonged to the people of Hellfire had they entered it.

The Sunnah also indicates that the people of Hellfire replace the believer in the place that was prepared for him in Hellfire, had he entered it. This is because on the Day of Judgment, Allah Almighty will give every Muslim a Jew or a Christian and say, "This is your ransom from the Fire." This means that disbelievers deserve to enter Hellfire due to their disbelief, and thus they become a ransom for the Muslims who were exposed to entering Hellfire.
