What should I do about the problem of three sisters cutting ties with their other three sisters after a dispute over inheritance?
We advise the questioner to continue striving to reconcile her sisters, seeking help from Allah and from those whose words her sisters will accept. This is because maintaining kinship ties is obligatory, and severing them is forbidden and a grave sin. This world is too insignificant for the ties of kinship to be severed over it.
The sisters should be reminded of the virtue of the afterlife and the permanence of Allah's reward. The one among them who is unjust should be advised and reminded of the evil consequences of injustice, and of the obligation to return rights to their rightful owners. If one of them refuses to repent or return a right, then she should be shunned if there is a benefit in doing so.
