Did the Prophet see people being punished in Hell and others being blessed in Paradise on the night of the Isra and Mi'raj, and how does this reconcile with souls awaiting the Day of Judgment for reckoning?

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw people being tormented and others being blessed on the night of the Isra' (Night Journey) and on other occasions. Among those tormented were those whose lips were clipped with fiery scissors; these were the orators who commanded people to righteousness but forgot themselves. Among those blessed was one who reclined in Paradise, like someone who had removed an obstacle from the path. This does not contradict the fact that souls in the Barzakh (definition) await the Hour; for among the people in the Barzakh are those who are blessed and those who are tormented. The torment and bliss of the grave are established by continuous transmission.
