How does the penitent ascertain the acceptance of his repentance, and what is the meaning of Allah's acceptance of his repentance? And will the penitent who was not subjected to a worldly hadd punishment be tormented in the grave and the Hereafter with a worldly torment?

The statement by the scholars, "If Allah Almighty accepts the repentance of a servant, He forgives their sin," is correct, because acceptance is in Allah's hand and is related to His will. He, glorified be He, accepts only from the pious, as He Almighty said: "Indeed, Allah only accepts from the righteous." And Allah forgives whoever repents to Him and returns to Him, and He is the One who said about Himself: "Forgiver of sin and Accepter of repentance," and this is for one who fulfills the conditions of repentance. The penitent recognizes the acceptance of their repentance by the improvement of their state and their uprightness, and by their being guided to do good and avoid disobedience. So if the penitent sincerely repents and fulfills its conditions, Allah accepts it, and they will not be punished in the barzakh (definition) nor in the Hereafter, because of His Almighty saying: "For those, Allah will change their evil deeds into good ones. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful."
