Munkar and Nakir are two angels who question people after death. They are named so because the servant does not know them. Their description: They are black, with blue eyes like copper cauldrons. Their fangs are like the horns of cattle, and their voices are like thunder. They tread on the hair of the deceased and carry a heavy mace. The torment of the grave afflicts both the soul and the body, and a Muslim must believe in this. There is no text stating that the face of a disbeliever turns black at the time of death, but the faces of disbelievers will turn black on the Day of Resurrection.
