How is the process of washing and shrouding the deceased carried out, and how many people supervise the washing process?

Scholars differ regarding the ruling on braiding the hair of a deceased woman after washing her. Some, like Ibn Habib, permit braiding it, while others, like Ibn al-Qasim, hold that it should be wrapped and not braided. The correct view is that it is recommended to braid it, based on the hadith (definition) of Umm Atiyyah concerning the washing of the Prophet's daughter (peace be upon him). As for the number of people who directly perform the washing, there is no specific number; rather, it is legislated for the washer and those who assist him to be present as needed, and the presence of those not assisting is disliked.
