In what case is it permissible to pray over the deceased from the left side?

If by "left" is meant the imam's left, such that the head of the deceased is placed towards the imam's left and the feet of the deceased towards the imam's right, then this description contradicts the prescribed method. The prescribed method for praying over the deceased is that the Janazah (definition) (bier) should be placed in front of the Imam, with its head to the Imam's right and its feet to the Imam's left. As for the Imam's position relative to the Janazah, he stands at the chest of a man and the middle of a woman, which is the view of the majority, contrary to those who say at the head or the middle for both.
