The answer

Praise be to Allah. Washing a deceased Muslim is a compulsory act of worship, and it is permissible to take a fee for it under certain conditions:

1- If the washer is given money without stipulation, there is no harm in accepting it. 2- If the washer stipulates a specific fee, it is permissible but it reduces his reward with Allah. 3- It is disliked to take a fee for washing, shrouding, carrying, and burying except for those in need. 4- The stipulated fee reduces the reward because washing the deceased is among the communal obligations. 5- Taking a fee is permissible but it is more virtuous to volunteer if possible. 6- The fee must correspond to the amount of work without exaggeration or exploitation.
