What is the definition of "ghusl"?

Ghusl (definition) is the washing of the entire body with purifying water. It has two linguistic meanings: it is a noun for the act of washing and the complete washing of the body, and it is a noun for the water used for washing. As for its jurisprudential meaning, it is the pouring of purifying water over the entire body in a specific manner, or the application of water to the entire body with the intention of making prayer permissible, along with rubbing. The proof of its legitimacy is His Almighty's saying: "And if you are in a state of janabah (definition), then purify yourselves."
