What is the ruling on combining the intentions of making up for Qiyam al-Layl and Duha prayer at the same time?

The time for Qiyam (definition) al-Layl (night vigil prayer) ends at the break of dawn. Some scholars permit making up for it during the Duha (forenoon) time. However, it is not permissible to combine the make-up of Qiyam al-Layl and the Duha prayer in a single prayer, because each of them is a distinct Sunnah (definition) (prophetic tradition) intended for itself, and there is no overlap between them. Each of the make-up of Witr and Duha must be performed as a separate prayer.

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to say: "Whenever the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed a prayer, he liked to persevere in it. And if sleep or pain prevented him from performing Qiyam al-Layl, he would pray twelve rakahs during the day."

This indicates the recommendation to maintain regular devotions and to make them up if they are missed. Whoever misses Witr prayer should make it up as an even number of rakahs during the day. So, if someone used to pray three rakahs for Witr, they should pray four rakahs (to make it an even number), and so on, adding one rakah (definition) to make it even, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do.

If two Sunnah prayers do not overlap, it is not valid to intend them both with a single prayer. For example, if one intends to pray two rakahs as Duha prayer and also as a make-up for the morning Sunnah prayer, their prayer would not be valid.
