What is the ruling on saying: "If Allah would accept being associated with a partner, I would have taken this club as a partner," as a hyperbole for love of a sports club, and are there any similar Prophetic hadiths or sayings?

The answer

Fanaticism for sports clubs is dangerous because it can lead to religious prohibitions, abusive language, and acts of sabotage. The statement, "If Allah were to accept being associated with partners, I would have taken that club as a partner," is considered a trivialization of Allah's Oneness and an audacity against His Majesty, and it may necessitate excommunication from Islam. One must repent, seek forgiveness, regret this statement, resolve not to return to it, ask for pardon, and increase good deeds, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, a servant may utter a word that displeases Allah, not giving it any importance, and for that word he will fall into Hellfire." (Narrated by Al-Bukhari 6478). Love for a club will not benefit on the Day of Judgment; rather, it may be a source of regret and woe if it leads to such words or squanders one's life. "And He is the One who accepts repentance from His servants and pardons evil deeds and knows what you do." (Ash-Shura/25).
