However, it is not permissible to put one's picture in newspapers or on websites, as it would be exposed to the gaze of unrelated men. It is only permissible to send it directly to a suitor if it is highly probable that he is a man of religion and good character, and if there is assurance that no other unrelated man will see it, provided that nothing but the face and hands are shown. It is permissible for a woman to offer herself for marriage to a man whose religion and character she approves of.
