What is the ruling on reciting Surat Ya-Sin four times and then supplicating with specific prayers thereafter to fulfill a need, as has been reported from some scholars?
Reading Surat Ya-Sin and supplicating afterward in this manner has not been authentically reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) nor from his companions. Any act not authentically reported from him is rejected, based on his (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever introduces into this affair of ours that which does not belong to it will have it rejected." No authentic hadith has been reported regarding the virtue of Surat Ya-Sin, and the narrations mentioned concerning its virtue or the supplications after it are weak or fabricated. Whoever has a need is prescribed to perform prayer then supplicate. The sayings of the scholars regarding the prayer of need have been clarified in the related fatwas.
