How sound is the circulating discourse regarding the dialogue between Gabriel and the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, about his weeping for his Ummah, and Allah's promise to him that He would never displease him concerning his Ummah, and that his Ummah would be one-third of the people of Paradise, then increasing to half of the people of Paradise, and his Ummah comprising eighty rows out of one hundred and twenty rows of the people of Paradise, and that the Prophet would not be pleased while even one person from his Ummah is in Hellfire until he is given the glad tidings that everyone who said "La ilaha illa Allah" (There is no god but Allah) will not abide eternally in Hellfire, and what follows from that, such as the expulsion of the people of monotheism and faith from Hellfire, and the expulsion of those whose eyes shed tears out of fear of Allah, and that Hell will then close its gates?

This well-known hadith is not a single hadith with this specific phrasing; rather, it is a compilation of several hadiths:

- The Prophet's ﷺ weeping for his Ummah and his supplications for them, and Allah's promise to him that He would please him concerning his Ummah.

- Authentic hadiths confirming that this Ummah will constitute two-thirds of the inhabitants of Paradise.

- The statement, "O Lord, I will not be pleased if even one person from my Ummah is in the Fire," was not narrated from the Prophet ﷺ, but its meaning was narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) in the interpretation of Allah's Almighty saying: ﴿And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.﴾

- The statement, "Give glad tidings to your Ummah that whoever says 'There is no god but Allah' will not remain in the Fire eternally," its meaning is authentic and established in the hadiths, that whoever dies without associating anything with Allah will enter Paradise, even if they committed major sins.

- The statement, "Take out from the Fire whoever has in their heart the weight of a mustard seed of Iman (faith)," is authentic and established in the hadiths of intercession.

- The statement, "Take out from the Fire whoever shed a tear, even a single drop, out of fear of Me," is weak, and "Take out from the Fire whoever feared Me in a standing position," is also weak.

- The statement, "Then Hell will clap its gates," has no authentic basis; it is fabricated.

- As for Allah's Almighty saying: ﴿Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims,﴾ it is authentic, and Allah will bring some people out of the Fire after He has taken His vengeance upon them, and they will enter Paradise and be called "the Jahannamiyyun (Hell-dwellers)."

- As for the statement: "Then the people of Paradise will see them and say: O Lord, perhaps these have preceded us to Paradise," there is no known basis for it.
