What is the ruling on accompanying those who drink alcohol, befriending them, hosting them in one's home, and sleeping there?

Alcohol is the mother of all evils, and its drinker is cursed. One who accompanies alcohol drinkers should not continue to do so unless they cease their actions. It is not permissible to sit with them while they are drinking alcohol. There is no good in accompanying an alcohol drinker, living with him, or inviting him home unless he repents. It may be obligatory to abandon him if his companionship is detrimental to one's religion.
