What is the ruling on sitting or standing next to one who drinks alcohol? And what is the ruling on one who sends a fax or writes a letter to request alcohol for his company?
A Muslim should avoid bad company and places where evil deeds are committed, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The example of a good companion and a bad companion is like that of the seller of musk and the blower of the bellows." Associating with disobedient people by choice, without denouncing their actions, contains a kind of inclination towards and satisfaction with their deeds.
As for importing alcoholic beverages, it is forbidden, and its perpetrator is subject to the warning mentioned regarding its drinker and seller, due to their involvement in its preparation and provision. Allah Almighty says: (And cooperate not in sin and aggression). Therefore, one must avoid these individuals and seek lawful sustenance.
