Is smoking permissible in Islam? And is chewing tobacco permissible?

Smoking is forbidden because it is impure and contains many harms. Allah has permitted good things for His servants and forbidden impure things for them, as stated in His Almighty saying: (And He makes lawful for them the good things and prohibits for them the impure things). All types of smoking are impure because they contain harmful and intoxicating substances, and it is forbidden to consume them in any way. It is obligatory for a Muslim to abandon it, repent, feel remorse, and resolve not to return to it.
