Smoking and Harmful Substances
- What are the fixed rules for prohibiting things and matters in Islam, taking into consideration His — the Almighty’s — saying: "And do not say about what your tongues falsely describe, 'This is lawful and this is unlawful,'..." and the Prophetic Hadith: "The lawful is what Allah has made lawful in His Book, and the unlawful is what Allah has made unlawful in His Book, and what He has remained silent about is among that which He has pardoned," and the saying of the scholars: "The unlawful is that for which there is a severe threat [of punishment]"?
- Is a cigar considered like alcohol merely because tobacco leaves are fermented, or is it prohibited due to its harm, like other cigarettes?
- Do strong-smelling substances such as gasoline, oil, and nail polish break one's fast, and how can addiction to these substances be overcome?
