Is there any harm in supplicating with "O Allah, I am the poorest of Your creation to You" for fear of making a definitive statement about the unseen, despite an inclination towards it, and instead sufficing with the supplication of Moses (peace be upon him): "My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need" or "O Allah, make me the poorest of Your creation to You"?

All creation is in need of Allah Almighty, and it is best to supplicate with the ma'thur (transmitted) prayers. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen was asked about the supplication: "O Allah, make me the poorest of Your servants to You," and he replied that it is acceptable in the sense of being poor unto Allah alone, without anyone else. However, better than it is the supplication: "O Allah, enrich us with Your lawful provisions, away from Your forbidden ones, and with Your obedience, away from Your disobedience, and with Your grace, away from anyone besides You. O Allah, do not abandon us to ourselves for the blink of an eye." It is best for a Muslim to supplicate with the prayers mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah due to their blessings and comprehensiveness.
