What is the kite (bird)? And why did the Prophet order the killing of the animals mentioned in the hadith: "Five animals, there is no blame upon the pilgrim in killing them: the crow, the kite, the mouse, the scorpion, and the dog"? The kite is a well-known bird that flies and preys on rats. It is considered one of the vilest birds. The pilgrim in the state of ihram is permitted to kill it, as it is among five "fawasiq" (transgressing creatures) mentioned by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "the mouse, the scorpion, the kite, the crow, and the rabid dog." They were called "fawasiq" due to their transgression by causing harm and corruption, deviating from the path of most creatures. Their transgression lies in their maliciousness and the great harm they inflict. This ruling includes every animal characterized by transgression, and every harmful animal is encompassed by the meaning of the hadith.
