Is it true that some scholars in the books "Al-Ain" and "Al-Mukhassas" stated that the meaning of "insect" includes jerboas, hedgehogs, mastigures, and birds, to justify a fatwa that the rabbit is an insect? And is the narration of breaking into Imam Ali's house and attempting to burn it after the death of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace, true?

There is no need to consider whether the rabbit is an insect, for the locust is an insect and its consumption is permissible. The consumption of rabbit has been confirmed by what Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that Abu Talhah slaughtered a rabbit and sent its hindquarters and thighs to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and he accepted it. As for the aforementioned story about the rabbit, it is fabricated and has no basis in the authentic Islamic collections that can be relied upon. It is an invention of the Rafidah to defame the Rightly Guided Caliphs, and its fabricator is Sulaym ibn Qays al-Amiri, who is a malicious, reviling Shiite.
