Is a person considered an infidel if a priest's words continue to echo in their mind, leading them to change their decisions, and is repentance and a re-affirmation of faith (Shahada) incumbent upon them, and is repentance for sins whose ruling is doubtful valid without inquiring about them?

It is not permissible to go to soothsayers and ask them questions. Whoever believes them has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. One must repent to Allah from this, and not let their words affect one's psyche or hinder the fulfillment of one's needs. Al-Mu'tasim disbelieved the astrologers and conquered Ammuriya. Therefore, the questioner should seek Allah's guidance (istikhara) and proceed to apply for the job, disregarding the sayings of fortune-tellers, for they possess no truth. Regret and seeking forgiveness constitute repentance, and Allah forgives those who repent.
