Obeying a father's will not to marry his daughter to a specific person is not obligatory. If the young man is of good religious character and morals, there is no harm for the girl in marrying him. In this case, her guardian should marry her off. If he refuses, guardianship transfers to the next in line. If all refuse, she should refer her case to a Sharia judge to marry her. Compatibility is based on religious character and morals, not on financial or social differences. If marriage becomes obligatory for the girl and she does not proceed with it, she has wronged herself.
