Is a husband considered unjust to his wife and children if he marries another woman who lives far away, leaving them alone for more than a week monthly, exposing his wife to psychological harm and fear due to the absence of a mahram or a close relative?

The husband must be just among his wives regarding lodging, whether they are in the same country or in different countries, based on the Almighty’s saying: “And live with them honorably,” and “So do not incline completely [toward one] and leave another hanging.” If the two wives are in two different countries, the husband must divide his time between them justly, either by going to the absent one on her designated days or by bringing her to him. If this is not possible, he should divide the duration as much as he can, such as a month for one and a month for the other, according to Ibn Qudamah.

He who does not act justly among his wives will come on the Day of Resurrection with one side of his body drooping. If the husband spends one week out of every month with his other wife, this is less than her right, and justice requires equality.

As for the children, he must consider their welfare and not harm them by his absence. The husband should be advised kindly and reminded of justice, and he should consult scholars.
