Is it permissible for relatives to sponsor an orphan, such as sponsoring one of the children of a deceased maternal uncle? Sponsoring an orphan is one of the greatest acts of righteousness. Allah has commanded it, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned its virtue. Sponsoring an orphan is not limited to strangers; it is desirable for both relatives and strangers. It is permissible to send sponsorship money from another country in installments, while considering the orphan's best interest. The guardian overseeing the orphan's affairs must spend on them in a reasonable manner. Among the most important aspects of sponsorship is striving to raise the orphan with a sound Islamic upbringing and caring for them.
