Which is better: reciting Surat Al-Baqarah daily or reciting one juz' of the Qur'an daily?

Reading Surat Al-Baqarah contains much good and great reward, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Recite the two bright ones, Al-Baqarah and Surat Aal Imran, for they will come on the Day of Resurrection as if they were two clouds... Recite Surat Al-Baqarah, for taking it is a blessing, abandoning it is a sorrow, and sorcerers cannot withstand it." The entire Qur'an is good and blessed, for each letter earns a good deed, and a good deed is multiplied tenfold. It will intercede for its companions on the Day of Resurrection.

It is better not to limit oneself to a specific surah but to maintain a daily portion of the Qur'an until it is completed, following the example of the righteous predecessors. Limiting oneself to one surah may lead to abandoning the rest of the Qur'an, and nothing from the Qur'an should be abandoned.

Some scholars have considered limiting oneself to one surah and repeating it exclusively, without other surahs, to be among the additional innovations (bid'ah idafiyyah). Al-Wansharisi mentioned that repeating a single surah in recitation or within a single rak'ah is an innovation, and that singling out certain parts of the Qur'an over others in prayer or otherwise is an act based on personal opinion in worshipping Allah.

Allah Almighty revealed His entire Book for contemplation and remembrance, as He said: "A Book We have sent down to you, full of blessing, that they may ponder over its verses, and that men of understanding may remember." This indicates that focusing on completing the Qur'an and increasing one's general reading of it is more virtuous than limiting oneself to only some of it.
