Anger does not prevent the occurrence of divorce unless it is so severe that it overwhelms the mind, rendering its owner unaware of what he is saying. If the father was aware of what he was saying and had not divorced the mother more than once previously, he can take her back during her 'iddah (waiting period), as long as he did not intend to issue a divorce with every utterance. However, if he intended to issue a divorce, or if he had divorced her twice before, then she is irrevocably divorced from him, and she is not lawful for him until she marries another man and he consummates the marriage with her, and then he divorces her or dies. If anger had deprived him of his awareness, then the divorce is not considered. The ruling depends on knowing the father's state, so the matter must be presented to the Sharia court or to trustworthy scholars. One must be good to parents and not fall short in their rights.
