What is the meaning of "The Day of the Greater Hajj" and "The Greater Hajj," and do they have the same meaning or do they differ, and were they mentioned in the Qur'an and Sunnah?

The day of the Great Hajj is the Day of Sacrifice, the tenth of Dhul-Hijjah. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "This is the day of the Great Hajj." It is named as such due to the major rituals of Hajj it encompasses, such as the night of standing at Arafat, staying overnight at Muzdalifah (Al-Mash'ar), stoning the Jamarat, sacrificing, shaving, circumambulating (Tawaf), and performing the ritual walking (Sa'i). The Day of the Great Hajj is also mentioned in the Holy Quran: "And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger to the people on the day of the Great Hajj."
