Is it better to keep one's hair long and take care of it, or to shave it, knowing that he takes good care of his hair and ties it, and he bases his argument on what was mentioned concerning the fitra?

"Honoring one's hair is Islamically commendable, so long as it does not reach the point of extravagance, boastfulness, seeking fame, or compromising one's dignity. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to honor his hair, oil it, and comb it, and he said: 'Whoever has hair, let him honor it.' Caring for it should be without extravagance or neglect.

A Muslim has a choice whether to shave their hair or leave it, and there is latitude in this matter. However, it should align with the common custom of their people. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to leave his hair until it reached his earlobes, and if it grew long, he would make it into four braids. Scholars have considered what has been narrated about the Prophet (peace be upon him) in this regard to be among the innate and customary Sunnahs, so there is no harm in doing them or leaving them, unlike the Sunnahs of worship.

Therefore, we advise you to leave your hair as it is if that is consistent with the custom of people in your surroundings. Otherwise, it is better to shave it, because having hair during the time of the Messenger (peace be upon him) was praiseworthy as it was the custom of the people, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not shave his head except during Hajj or Umrah. However, in our present era, people are not accustomed to this. And the Prophet (peace be upon him) said about the boy who shaved part of his head and left part: 'Shave it all or leave it all.'"
