The answer

The Mahr (dower) is a fixed right for the woman upon the mere conclusion of the marriage contract. She is entitled to it in full if divorce occurs after consummation, and to half of it if it occurs before. As for the Shabka (jewelry gift), if it is a gift, then it belongs to the wife. If it is part of the Mahr or if custom dictates it as such, then its ruling is the same as that of the Mahr. If it is a loan for adornment, then it remains the property of the husband. Amity should prevail between the spouses, and reconciliation is preferable if possible. The husband may take his wife back as long as she is within her waiting period ('), provided it is not the third divorce.
