How sound is the hadith that mentions the sinking of a city between Mecca and Medina at the End of Time?

This hadith is not mentioned in the books of Sunnah. We caution Muslims against narrating and spreading hadiths that have no basis, because lying about the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) is not like lying about anyone else. Therefore, one must be cautious and fear Allah in this matter, and only accept from hadiths what is known to be attributed to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and attested to by verifying scholars.
