Who was the man in whose image Gabriel (peace be upon him) used to descend?

The Companion whom Gabriel, peace be upon him, used to visit the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in his form was Dihyah ibn Khalifah al-Kalbi, may Allah be pleased with him, due to his beautiful appearance. This has been reported in authentic narrations from Ibn 'Umar, Anas, and Umm Salamah, may Allah be pleased with them.
