Is a wife obligated to obey her husband if he orders her to cut off ties of kinship with her family, and does he have the right to prevent her from visiting them?

If a husband treats his wife harshly, this contravenes the command of Allah and His Messenger to treat her kindly. The wife should be patient and pray to Allah for her husband's rectification. The husband should not prevent his wife from visiting her parents without a legitimate Shar'i excuse, nor should he abandon visiting his in-laws. If the husband insists on preventing her, the wife should advise him and seek assistance from righteous people. If he remains unconvinced, she should be patient and maintain ties of kinship through phone calls and similar means. If he commands her to visit his family, it is commendable for her to visit them, hoping that his heart may soften.
