Is boasting about one's possessions, without diminishing others, considered arrogance?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Boasting is self-aggrandizement, meaning that a person sees himself as superior to others. However, if a person mentions what he possesses without diminishing what others have, and without showing off or arrogance, then this is not arrogance. Rather, it is part of speaking about blessings, which is a form of gratitude for them, as Allah Almighty says: "But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it]." As for arrogance, the Prophet ﷺ defined it as: "Arrogance is rejecting the truth and despising people," meaning pushing it away, denying it, and belittling people.
