How can one reduce the duration of anger and resentment that lingers for a long time after a dispute with someone?
To deal with anger, a Muslim must remember the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) advice: "Do not get angry." Its meaning is not to do what causes anger, or to avoid its causes, or not to act upon what anger dictates by way of revenge.
Among the ways to cure anger are: seeking refuge with Allah from the accursed Satan, changing the state in which one finds himself when anger strikes, and performing ablution.
A Muslim is also advised to be patient and suppress anger, recalling the words of Allah Almighty: {and those who suppress anger and pardon people—and Allah loves the doers of good}.
Furthermore, one is advised to fear Allah, maintain the obligatory prayers, and recite the prescribed remembrances to repel Satan.
