Is it permissible to perform ablution with a vessel that contained urine, and how is it purified?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

An vessel defiled by urine or other impurities cannot be used for ablution unless it is washed with pure water until the impurity is removed. There is no condition for multiple washes. This applies to solid vessels into which liquids do not permeate. However, if the vessel is made of wood or material that absorbs impurities, and the impurity has remained in it for a long time, it will not become pure and it is not permissible to carry it during prayer. However, according to the Malikis, it is permissible to eat and drink from it, unless the impurity has not remained in it for a long time, in which case it becomes pure.
