What is the ruling on a woman leaving her husband's house without his permission, if she is certain that he does not object?

The default is that a woman is not permitted to leave her home without her husband's permission, except for a legitimate Shar'i (Islamic legal) excuse. However, if the woman is certain that her husband does not object to her leaving and she adheres to the Shar'i guidelines, then there is no harm upon her. This is because customary permission takes the place of verbal permission. The فقهاء (jurists) have mentioned that she may rely on the custom that indicates the husband's consent, and that circumstantial evidence indicating his consent for her to leave for a need serves as explicit permission.
