The answer

The belief of the Salaf regarding the Quran is that it is the Word of Allah, in both its wording and its meaning. Allah spoke it in reality, and He sent it down to Muhammad, peace be upon him, gradually over 23 years. Some of it was revealed for a specific reason, and some without. The Salaf believe that the Quran is from Allah and to Him it will return at the end of time. Allah described the Quran with magnificent attributes, such as "Al-Hakeem" (the Wise) and "Al-Kareem" (the Noble), and these attributes apply to those who adhere to it and act upon it.
