What is the ruling on the claim of human divinity?

Saying that humans or other creatures are divine is forbidden; in fact, it is the gravest of major sins, the most severe of crimes, and the greatest injustice. This is because it constitutes associating partners with Allah Almighty in His most specific attribute, to which all messengers called: the Oneness of Divinity (Tawhid al-Uluhiyyah). All messengers said to their people: "Worship Allah; you have no god other than Him." And Allah Almighty said: "Indeed, polytheism is a great injustice."
