What is the ruling on the ritual ablution (wudu') for a woman with chronic vaginal bleeding (istihadah)? Scholars have differed on the ruling regarding the ablution (wudu') of a person with a continuous ritual impurity. The majority obligated it after the time for prayer begins, and this is the fatwa given. So, if you missed a prayer and woke up at the time of another prayer, you perform one ablution and pray with it as many prayers as you wish until the time of the prayer for which you performed ablution expires. As for the emission of a small amount of blood, it does not nullify ablution unless it comes from the front or back private parts. If its emission is not controllable, then its ruling is like that of a person with incontinence: they perform ablution after the time [of prayer] begins and pray with their ablution as many obligatory and supererogatory prayers as they wish until that time expires.
