Is it permissible to request a divorce and annul the marriage contract due to the husband's insistence on his wife working and financially assisting him, even though he had accepted her niqab and has become more religious, and she had performed Salatul-Istikhara before the marriage?

A husband is not obligated to compel his wife to work outside the home, as providing for her is his unanimous duty, based on the words of Allah Almighty: (Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth), and the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: (And they have the right to their provision and clothing from you, according to what is reasonable). Before finalizing the marriage contract, it is advisable to discuss and understand with the husband, in a good manner, the issue of work and other potential disagreements, and to take time in completing the marriage to ensure his financial capability. One should avoid divorce as much as possible, unless life becomes unbearable, and seek consultation from people of sound judgment.
