Is a husband required to divorce his wife who has embraced Islam but does not adhere to its teachings and associates with bad company, especially given his concern for their children's religious future in a non-Islamic country, or should he remain with her despite no signs of her improving?

Prayer is a great pillar of Islam, and abandoning it may take a Muslim out of the religion. However, one must be gentle with someone who grew up in an environment ignorant of the value and teachings of prayer. Therefore, it is advisable to give the wife an opportunity to be taught and guided, to explain the importance of prayer, and to try to take her to an Islamic center to learn from righteous Muslim women. If the wife becomes upright and committed to prayer, then praise be to Allah. Otherwise, there is no good in the continuation of the marriage, and the husband may separate from her. As for raising children, a legal contract can be made obliging the wife to raise the children according to the teachings of Islam.
