What is the ruling on organizing a monthly Qiyam prayer for young males in the mosque, keeping them from 'Isha until Fajr, and organizing lectures and sports activities such as basketball for them?

It is permissible to gather for the purpose of organizing lectures and permissible activities. It is preferable for sports activities to take place during the day, unless they are light and intended for recreation. As for performing night prayers (Qiyam al-Layl) in congregation, it is not legislated unless it occurs occasionally and without prior arrangement, except during Ramadan, when it is legislated to perform it in congregation throughout the month. Ibn Qudamah clarified the permissibility of performing voluntary prayers both individually and in congregation. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen advised that a group agreeing to perform Qiyam al-Layl is an innovation, unless it happens occasionally and unintentionally. Therefore, those in charge are advised to limit themselves to lectures and other activities, or to leave time for performing Qiyam al-Layl individually.
