Does the prohibition of urinating in a hole include bathroom drains?
It is reprehensible (makrooh) to urinate into cracks or holes (burrows) by consensus among jurists, due to what was narrated from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prohibiting this. The opinion of the Imams has settled on considering the hadith sound and using it as evidence. The reasons for this prohibition are that such places are a dwelling for harmful vermin, and may cause harm to the one who urinates therein, or that they are dwellings for Jinn. As for urinating into designated drains, the more probable opinion is that the prohibition does not apply to them, because the reason for the reprehensibility is not present in them.
