What is the ruling on weaving silk carpets to be hung on walls?
Working with silk, whether in weaving carpets or other items, and using it for adornment, is permissible. The sin lies in men wearing it if it is pure silk, or even if it is mixed with other materials but silk constitutes more than half, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Silk and gold are forbidden for the males of my Ummah and permissible for its females." As for artificial silk, the prohibition does not apply to it.
