Is the command in the Hadith: "Look at those who are beneath you, and do not look at those who are above you, for that is more apt to make you not belittle the bounty of Allah" for obligation or recommendation, and is the prohibition in it for tahrim (prohibition) or karahah (disapproval)?

The hadith (definition) guides the servant to be grateful for blessings, which is a good manner that benefits one's religion, worldly life, intellect, body, and brings peace to the heart. When a person looks at those who are superior to them in worldly matters, they belittle their own blessings. However, when they look at those who are beneath them, it motivates them to be grateful for blessings, to be humble, and to praise Allah. Therefore, one should not look at the adornments of this world, as Allah Almighty says: "And do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [various] kinds of them - the splendor of worldly life."
