Why do we fear death? And is it permissible for a lover to speak via social media?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Fear of death is human nature, and the fear of a believer differs from that of a disbeliever. The believer's fear drives them to repentance and worship, while the disbeliever panics due to their intense attachment to worldly life. Allah (the Most High) said: "And the throes of death will come in truth: 'This is what you were trying to evade.'"

As for the ruling on speaking with someone you love via social media, if the intention is to speak with a non-mahram woman, it is impermissible due to the potential for fitna (temptation) and corruption. Scholars have explicitly prohibited speaking with non-mahram women without necessity. However, permissible speech with men or mahram women is not objectionable.
