Fear of death is of two types: a natural, innate type shared by both believers and disbelievers, and it is not blameworthy. And a blameworthy type that indicates weakness of faith, which is "al-wahan" (enervation), explained by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) as love of the world and dislike of death. This type of dislike of death arises from a person's attachment to the world and its pleasures.
