What are the Pillars of Islam?
Islam is submission to Allah through monotheism, obedience, and freedom from polytheism. It is one of the three levels of religion. Its pillars are five: testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, establishing prayer, giving zakat, fasting Ramadan, and performing Hajj to the House for whoever is able, as stated in the Hadith of Jibreel. These five pillars constitute Islam when its mention is coupled with faith (Iman). However, if Islam is mentioned alone, its meaning becomes general, encompassing both outward and inward actions.
